FIRST AID

Loss of important data is an unpleasant situation. By choosing the right procedure, you can significantly increase the chances of data recovery.

Content Guide - Data Recovery:

First Important Steps:

  • Stay Calm.
  • Turn Off the Device (computer, laptop, server, NAS, mobile phone...) or disconnect the damaged medium (external drive, flash drive...).
  • Do Not Attempt Data Recovery Yourself. Amateur attempts at data recovery can reduce the chances of successful data recovery.
  • Contact Us - 608 177 773

You can always take advantage of free diagnostics and consultation. A short phone call can prevent more extensive data loss problems. Modern data media often work differently than your IT service acquaintance thinks!

How Data Recovery Works - From Media Reception to Data Handover

Order Reception

You can bring the data medium to us personally, send it, or use our free pick-up service. We will discuss the problem itself, its possible cause, and provide basic information about possible implementation. It is important to obtain as much information as possible to choose the optimal diagnostic and implementation procedure. You will then receive a receipt protocol.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis is free and non-binding. It is always the first step in the data recovery process. Diagnosis allows our customers to find out the condition of the data medium, the chances of successful data recovery, the final price, and the time required for implementation.

You will receive the diagnosis by email and a notification via SMS. We strive to describe the problem of the data medium in a way that is understandable even to a layperson. If there are any ambiguities, we can discuss everything in more depth. Unless otherwise agreed, the final price will never exceed the amount determined during the diagnosis.

If, after the diagnosis, you decide not to proceed with the implementation, you can simply decline it. The diagnosis does not commit you to anything, and the only possible fee is related to sending the data medium back via courier service.

Approval of Implementation

You can confirm your interest in data recovery by email, personally, or by phone. This step is already binding.

Data Recovery

Sometimes data recovery is technologically and time less demanding, while other times it requires longer periods, specialized hardware and software, or a dust-free environment. In the data recovery process, user data is the number one priority. Sometimes it is appropriate to choose more technologically or time-intensive steps that increase the chances of successful data recovery.

Data recovery or restoration from any medium always differs more or less from other implementations, and in most cases, it is not possible to determine the time required and the result with 100% guarantee in advance, but we always strive for a 100% result.

The actual data recovery process varies depending on the type of medium. More information can be found in the section dedicated to the specific data medium:

  • Hard Drives - HDD
  • SSD - Solid State Drive
  • Mobile Phones and Tablets
  • SD and Other Memory Cards
  • Flash Drives
  • Network Storage - NAS
  • Disk Arrays - RAID

Sending a Snapshot of Recovered Data

The client receives successfully recovered data for review in the form of a snapshot. An HTML file is generated with an overview of the structure of the recovered data and is sent to the customer by email. If the client wishes, personal inspection of the recovered data on-site or via remote desktop (e.g., using Chrome Remote Desktop) is also possible by arrangement.

Preparing Data for Another Medium

Data can be provided on another medium supplied by the client. If the volume of recovered data is smaller, it can be sent via data storage, or we can provide a new data medium. If the original data medium is still usable, the data can be uploaded to it.

We are happy to assist the client in selecting a suitable data medium or data storage. However, keep in mind that there is no perfect and indestructible data medium, and recovered data must be carefully backed up.

Payment

With us, you always pay only for successful data recovery. Before handing over the recovered data, the order must be paid for. We prefer payment by bank transfer, but it is also possible to pay in cash on-site. For contract customers, payment by invoice with a due date is possible.

The only exception to paying only for success can be a data medium that is in a deplorable state after an amateur attempt, where the prospects for success are close to zero. Similarly, a data medium that has already undergone a data recovery attempt at another company and was unsuccessful. Here, after customer approval, a fee may be charged even for a futile attempt. Such a condition is exceptional, and we always explain the risks to the client in detail.

Handing Over Recovered Data

Recovered data can be picked up in person at our place, sent via courier service, or transferred using data storage.

How Long It Takes to Get Recovered Data

During the free diagnostics, the data recovery time frame is also determined. Typically, the client is given 3-4 different options, with the urgency of the order reflected in the final price for successfully recovered data. Standard, delayed, priority, or express solutions. For example, family photos and videos usually do not require higher data recovery priority, and the client generally chooses standard or delayed implementation. Conversely, important business data can be crucial for company operations, and the client may opt for priority or express solutions.

The time required for data recovery can thus range from a few hours to several weeks. Sometimes the time required can be estimated immediately, while other times, detailed diagnostics need to be performed first. Recovering deleted data from a memory card requires a different amount of time than, for example, recovering data from a mechanically damaged hard drive. We can provide the best answer if you contact us with a specific query or have a free diagnosis performed by us.

Cost of Successful Data Recovery

Each case is unique, and therefore, the price is determined within the free diagnostics. It is impossible to list all possible variations in a price list, and it is also very difficult to summarize everything in a price list in a way that is understandable to the average user.

Take advantage of our free diagnosis, collection, and consultation. A preliminary price list can be found here.

Free and Non-Binding Diagnostics

If you are unsure whether data from a damaged medium can be recovered or are considering the cost of data recovery, the best solution is to request free diagnostics. After the diagnostics are processed, you will have a better idea of the data recovery possibilities, costs, and time requirements. Do not hesitate to contact us.

We Recover Data from These Media and Devices

  • Hard Drives - HDD are our most frequent patients, both in external and internal versions, due to spontaneous failure, file system error, drop or impact, or unintentional user action.
  • SSD also fail and make up a large part of our orders.
  • Mobile Phones, our everyday helpers, can fail without warning due to user error, mechanical damage, or after a bath in a pond, refusing to release data.
  • Memory Cards - large capacity in a miniature data medium, which may give the impression of high reliability, but in reality, memory cards are not very reliable data media.
  • Flash Drives - sometimes cheap promotional flash drives, sometimes more expensive branded ones, any of them can fail. Flash drives have high capacity and are usually a miniature data medium, which may not be of the highest quality.
  • NAS are used by households and small businesses today. A well-configured NAS can form a fairly robust and reliable data storage, but it can also fail. NAS hardware failure or multiple disks at once, user error, hacker attack. NAS usually has some version of RAID - a disk array, configured, which increases robustness, but it is also true that RAID is not a backup.
  • Disk Arrays - RAID are found in small home NAS as well as various corporate server solutions. Even RAID needs to be backed up and if something does not work as planned, RAID can fail, and data can be lost.
  • Apple Devices are unique in many ways, which is why we dedicate a separate category on our website to them. Apple mobile phones, computers, and tablets are also our specialty, and if you have lost data from an Apple device, use our services.
